Olivia and John met in 2005 and married three years later

Olivia Newton-John has shared a touching ‘flashback’ photo of herself snuggling up to her husband days before he died.

The actress died surrounded by her family at her ranch in Southern California on Monday. She was 73 years old.

The Grease star’s husband, John Easterling, announced the news in a social media statement saying his late wife had been a “symbol of triumphs and hope for over 30 years”.

Just two days before her death, the four-time Grammy winner shared a photo of herself beaming in John’s arms as she looked directly at the camera.

John, 70, gazes into the distance with a wink, as if contemplating quietly, while holding her in his arms and laying a hand over hers.

Olivia didn’t write a caption, but did use the hashtag “flashbackfriday” and used a heart emoji.

The post was inundated with likes and comments.

A few days later, John, who married Olivia in 2008 after they met three years earlier, shared a photo of his late wife, announcing that she had passed away.

In 2017, Olivia announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time – 25 years after the first event.

In the post, John wrote: “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully this morning at her Southern California ranch surrounded by family and friends. We ask everyone to respect the intimacy of the family during this very difficult time.

“Olivia has been a beacon of triumphs and hope for over 30 years, sharing her journey with breast cancer. Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton Foundation Fund -John, dedicated to plant medicine and cancer research.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund (ONJFoundationFund.org).”
