Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic survival thread gets a live-action series from HBO. Here is a first look at the next show.
The live-action adaptation will star Pedro Pascal of Mandalorian famous like Joël, and Bella Ramsey from Game Of Thrones like Ellie. The show will also feature Gabriel Luna as Tommy. Luna recently played Rev-9 in Terminator: Dark Fate.
This The first still shows both Pascal and Ramsey in costume, looking at the wreckage on a grassy field. So, so far, the show seems to nail the backs of the characters and their clothes!
The first one The last of us was released in 2013 for PlayStation 4, and a sequel followed in 2020. The game won awards, but was strongly criticized for the crunch experienced by the developers of the studio.

The show is written and produced by Naughty Dog co-chair Neil Druckmann, and Craig Mazin who was previously the highly acclaimed HBO writer and producer Chernobyl.
While video game adaptations have been spotty (god damn they once were), Mazin’s track record and Naughty Dog’s involvement certainly makes it seem like this one is in good hands. We’ll have to see how the show actually plays out.
The series has already started filming in Canada, where it is said to be the largest television production ever made in the country and, according to CTV, is expected to generate more than $ 200 million in revenue. Radio-Canada reports that filming will continue until next June. The series is supposed to last for several seasons, so this could be the start of a production that is not only important, but long.
While HBO has yet to announce an official release date, it seems likely. the show will debut some time later then year.
