Lewis Capaldi hasn’t finished his second album because he’s “awfully lazy”.

The ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker made his live comeback with a string of festival headliners this summer, but focused on material from his 2019 debut album ‘Divinely Uninspired To A Heavenly Extent’ and admitted during his Latitude headline on Friday (7/22/22) night that he doesn’t show any new material at gigs because he doesn’t have any.

He told the crowd: “I just want to say right now, I don’t have any new music to play you.

“I rescheduled a lot of shows last year because I was like, ‘Guys, I have to finish my new album.’ And I was supposed to, but I’m awfully lazy.

Explaining that his set would focus on “old stuff,” he added to cheers, “I’m glad you like it, because that’s all we have.”

The 25-year-old star joked at another festival gig last week that he had a raunchy reason for delaying his album.

Speaking on stage at the TRSMT Festival, he joked: “It never occurred to me during lockdown to take my hand off my dick and put it on my guitar.

“I’m glad we all enjoyed aw*** from time to time.”

He also encouraged viewers to make the most of being outdoors and around other people after the lengthy COVID-19 lockdowns.

He joked: “Two years ago we were sitting in our houses, we couldn’t touch each other, we couldn’t go out, and now we’re fucking each other.

“If you see someone you haven’t seen in a while, p*** on them!”

Meanwhile, Lewis offered a more serious assessment of the night and what it meant to him after he lost confidence after his last arena tour.

He said: “I’ve been s******* about this myself for ages. We played a few arena shows before it all kicked off and I found it very difficult to play them,

“It was the worst time of my life and I was having panic attacks on stage and stuff.

“Being able to go out and enjoy it really means the world. It’s been a crazy few years.”
