Have you noticed a user with an interesting profile picture on Discord? You might like to add it to your image gallery or take a closer look. Unfortunately, Discord doesn’t natively let you enlarge profile pictures, just like Instagram doesn’t. This tutorial shows you how, with the help of a few workarounds, you can closely view user profile pictures and download them to your computer or mobile device.

1. With inspection item

If you’re using Discord on your PC, follow these steps to enlarge someone’s profile picture.

  1. Open Chrome on your computer and go to discord.com in your browser.
  2. Go to a channel and find a user with an interesting profile picture.
  3. Right-click on their name and select “Profile” from the drop-down menu.

    once again.
  2. You will find the link to the image in the field. Copy the link by double-clicking on it, then paste it into a new browser window.
  3. You will be able to see the image in your browser. The only problem is that the photo will still appear small. Luckily, you can zoom it right from your browser. Just change the size from 160 to 1024 or 2048.

  1. The image now appears enlarged. Depending on the original image, it will be more or less blurry. You can right-click it and select “Save As” to save it to your PC.

2. Take advantage of Chrome’s built-in Google Lens feature

Another way to get your hands on a user’s profile picture is to use Chrome’s new built-in Google Lens feature. This way you will be able to find similar images, and you are lucky even the image itself on the web. Of course, this won’t work with profile pictures that show the user’s original content.

  1. Open Chrome and go to a channel where you can find someone with an interesting profile picture.
  2. Click on their username to view their profile card.

Discord Avatar Chrome Search Lens
  1. Select the “Search images with Google Lens” option.
  2. You will need to highlight the avatar using your mouse.

  1. As you can see in our example, Google Lens successfully identified the image as a still image from Pixar’s new “Turning Red” animation.
  2. You can now go ahead and create a similar screenshot of the character in question and save it to your PC.

3. Use a robot

Using a bot is another way to enlarge and save other people’s profile pictures. However, this option is limited only to servers where these bots have been added. Not all bots can help you view user profile pictures, only a few are selected. These include:

Note that this method works whether you are using Discord on your PC or mobile. The steps are quite similar in both cases.

You need to start the process by checking if the server the person with the cool profile picture is on has the correct bot(s) installed. Scroll to the bottom of the user list to see all bots available for a certain server.

In our case, we noticed that the server is using the Dyno bot. Keep in mind that most servers have a special bot channel where you can run commands.

  1. In this example, we navigated to the “#bot-commands” channel.
  2. From there, we used the proper syntax for the bot: which is /whois member: to request a user’s information from the bot.

  1. Dyno responded immediately with all data. From there, you can click on a user’s profile picture, which will show it to you in detail.
  2. If you want an even larger version, click “Open Original”.

Add bots to your own server

Now, if you’re on a server that doesn’t use any of these bots, you might be out of luck. Chances are you can’t add the bots yourself, as you need certain permissions, such as “Manage Server” or Administrator to do so. However, if you have a server, it might be useful to know how to add a bot that can help you zoom and download user profile pictures.

  1. Go to a bot library site, such as Top.gg.
  2. Browse or use the search bar at the top to search for a specific bot.
  3. Press the “Invite” button to get it on your server.

  1. Once you have added the bot, you will need to use some syntax which differs from bot to bot. You will have to check on the respective websites to see how to approach this.
