To my delight, Isaiah Oliver has been great so far in 2021. In a chat with Falcool’s David Walker on their podcast, we explained Oliver’s role as 2021 approaches and how to keep him out. of the border would probably lead to an improvement in the game. Even when I said that Oliver was “too hated, it wasn’t that bad” and that he would be “fine” in 2021 if he played in the slot machine, it looks like I was selling it short at this point.
Me and @FalcoolDW talked about Isaiah Oliver this offseason on @FalcoolPod, and we may have sold it short.

For Week 3 against the Giants, Oliver maintained his exceptional game.
Top 5 #Hawks Defensive PFF scores against the Giants (week 3)
1. LB Mykal Walker – 92.7
2. CB Isaiah Oliver – 90.2
3. DT Grady Jarrett – 89.8
4. CB Avery Williams – 76.0
5. LB Dante Fowler Jr. – 70.2– Evan Birchfield (@EvanBirchfield) September 27, 2021
#Hawks Isaiah Oliver is the second ranked NFL CB for Week 3, behind Greedy Williams who only played 8 snaps. Oliver’s 90.8 pass coverage is the best in the NFL for Week 3.

Now that Oliver has been relegated to slots duties, for the most part, I feel even better about Logan Ryan, who was a staple of many Dean Pees defenses. Yes, I understand Oliver is technically second according to PFF, but he’s played 57 snaps – over seven times more than Williams.
It is the first in my book. Those who watched the games also noticed that Oliver used his height to his advantage and made his presence known in the racing game. I thought Oliver would improve a lot in 2021, but even I didn’t see it coming. Hopefully this continues and he can be a staple of that Falcons secondary going forward.
